Single lip seals

Six designs for the standard case — and for the one that is not

One sealing lip, six designs: from the half-width DOA and DOB through the ISO 6194 alternatives BSB and MSB to the patented SOA for 150 bar.

DOA

Narrow design, lip facing outwards

Radial shaft seal in dimensions to DIN 3760, but at half the DIN width. The choice when there is no axial space.

Smallest version from a shaft diameter of 1 mm.

Narrow design, lip facing inwards

Like the DOA, but with the sealing lip facing inwards: dimensions to DIN 3760, half the DIN width. Here the pressure support is provided by the customer’s own component.

High pressure, patented

For pressures at which a catalogue part gives up. A one-piece turned support body instead of stamped sheet metal, giving very small annular gaps and high pressure resistance.

Our first patent — since 2001.

Standard, small shafts

Radial shaft seal to DIN 3760, likewise available from a shaft diameter of 1 mm.

Alternative to ISO 6194

A pronounced running track that allows quick repairs without changing operating quality.

Pulsating pressures

Designed for applications in which the pressure is not constant but pulsates.

pmax
10 bar
vmax
40 m/s

The limits for pressure and circumferential speed apply separately, not simultaneously. The temperature range depends on the elastomer selected.

Cost-effectiveness

The unit price is not the price

A VR seal costs more than a catalogue part. What it actually costs, though, is decided not at the seal but at three places next to it.

One-off, per component
Shaft machining

No hardening, no nitriding, no hard chrome plating, no liner. For the running surface the steels usual in mechanical engineering are enough — in many cases unhardened standard stainless steel. The low contact pressure of the preloaded diaphragm is what makes this possible.

The figures for your drawing
Every year in service
40 watts

20 watts of friction power instead of 60 per sealing point. On two shifts that is 160 kWh, 82 kg of CO₂ and €32 per sealing point per year. A plant with 40 sealing points therefore saves around €1,280 — every year, without anyone doing anything for it.

Calculate with your own figures
Over the service life
No running-in mark

Less friction means less heat, less wear and longer service intervals. And because no running-in mark is worn into the shaft, the shaft stays as it is when the seal is changed.

To friction power

The friction figures come from a typical gearbox in a production environment, calculated at €0.20 per kWh and 0.512 kg of CO₂ per kWh. We are happy to work out what your own plant would save in your specific case.
