When an existing sealing point causes trouble, the design does not have to change straight away. These five designs reproduce common geometries to DIN 3760 — and thanks to the low contact pressure they often need no reworking of the shaft.
Common geometry to DIN 3760 for replacement in existing housings.
Second single lip replacement geometry to DIN 3760.
Double lip replacement seal for existing installation spaces.
Double lip replacement seal, alternative geometry.
Double lip replacement seal for changing over without altering the housing.
The limits for pressure and circumferential speed apply separately, not simultaneously. The temperature range depends on the elastomer selected.
The VR sealing lip works with a much lower contact pressure than a conventional shaft seal. That has a practical consequence: post-treatment of the shaft can usually be dispensed with — no hardening, no nitriding, no hard chrome plating, no liner. It also seals reliably on unhardened and on stainless steel shafts, and it leaves no running-in mark.
