Single lip seals
The standard case. DOA is half as wide as DIN 3760, SOA takes up to 150 bar, BSB and MSB are our alternatives to ISO 6194.
Single and double lip seals, replacement seals and special builds — 541 available dimensions to DIN 3760, shaft diameters from 1 to 635 mm. Pressure-resistant to 150 bar, up to 40 m/s circumferential speed.
All designs in dimensions to DIN 3760. What your application needs depends less on the catalogue than on pressure, speed, medium and installation space — talk to us if you are unsure.

Two lips in one direction for longer service life — or opposed, to separate two media and seal vacuum against pressure.
For replacement in existing housings. Common geometries to DIN 3760, with no change to the installation space — often with no reworking of the shaft.
Unusual dimension, unusual medium, unusual temperature. From a batch size of one, developed together with your design department.
Enter your shaft diameter. Add a tolerance and you will also see the neighbouring sizes — useful while the design still has some room.

All dimensions in millimetres. The table lists the dimensions that can be manufactured — which design is available in your size is something we clarify with your enquiry. Dimensions outside this list we make as a special seal.
With rotating shafts the sealing lip twists under pressure. How far depends on the annular gap ds between the shaft and the support body bore — it is the decisive factor in whether a seal will hold the specified pressure. We cover this through the support body bore D3 , in three ranges.
For very small gaps the stamped sheet-metal version gives way to a one-piece turned support body — that is the SOA design, and the reason for its 150 bar.
When ordering: Please state dimension D3 with your order. Without it we manufacture to the standard dimension D3 = shaft Ø + 0.10 +0,05−0.00 — so for a shaft Ø of 30, that is 30.10 mm.
| Material | Application |
|---|---|
| Gunmetal RG7 | recommended for an annular gap ds < 0.10 mm |
| Stainless steel 1.4301 | corrosive media, food, pharmaceuticals |
| Stainless steel 1.4571 | seawater-resistant — marine, offshore, transverse thrusters |
| Steel 1.0319 | Standard |
| Aluminium | Lightweight construction |
| PPS, PEEK, HDPE, PA6 | plastic, depending on the medium |
Stamped support bodies are supplied in steel, stainless steel 1.4301 and special materials. For high-pressure applications please coordinate the design with us early on.
A VR seal costs more than a catalogue part. What it actually costs, though, is decided not at the seal but at three places next to it.
No hardening, no nitriding, no hard chrome plating, no liner. For the running surface the steels usual in mechanical engineering are enough — in many cases unhardened standard stainless steel. The low contact pressure of the preloaded diaphragm is what makes this possible.
The figures for your drawing20 watts of friction power instead of 60 per sealing point. On two shifts that is 160 kWh, 82 kg of CO₂ and €32 per sealing point per year. A plant with 40 sealing points therefore saves around €1,280 — every year, without anyone doing anything for it.
Calculate with your own figuresLess friction means less heat, less wear and longer service intervals. And because no running-in mark is worn into the shaft, the shaft stays as it is when the seal is changed.
To friction powerThe friction figures come from a typical gearbox in a production environment, calculated at €0.20 per kWh and 0.512 kg of CO₂ per kWh. We are happy to work out what your own plant would save in your specific case.
