Industries

Six industries in which standard parts reach their limit

For a simple sealing point a catalogue part will do. Designers come to us when the friction is too high, the space too small, the pressure too great — or when the material needs an approval.

Food industry

Hygienic design with no cavities, no bonding agents and a smooth transition to EHEDG and DIN EN 1672-2. Plus FDA-compliant materials, metal-detectable on request. The commonest reason for an enquiry: maintenance intervals that are too short, or temperatures at the sealing point that are too high.

  • Conveyor belts and screw conveyors
  • Mixers and agitators
  • Filling lines
  • Rotary joints and rotary unions

Medical technology and pharmaceuticals

Materials to FDA and USP Class VI, CIP- and SIP-capable, temperature-resistant to 230 °C. Designs with minimal dead space, so that no foreign particles reach the downstream filters.

  • Centrifuges and cell separation
  • Pumps
  • Rotary unions
  • Drying plants
  • Tools, e.g. drills

General mechanical engineering

The classic case: friction has to come down, or the pressure is too high for a conventional seal. Here the lower friction power pays off directly in energy costs and service life.

  • Pumps and compressors
  • Drives and gearboxes
  • Rotary unions and rotary joints
  • Robotics and sensors

Defence

Applications with high reliability requirements and long service lives — often combined with special materials and small batch sizes.

  • Sensors
  • Gearboxes
  • Thruster systems
  • Rotary unions

Marine and subsea

Above and below the water. What counts here is pressure resistance, media resistance and the ability to seal reliably on stainless steel shafts with no post-treatment.

  • Propeller shafts
  • Transverse thrusters
  • Subsea robotics
  • Pumps and sensors

Motorsport

Where every watt of power loss counts, a seal with one third of the usual friction power is no longer a detail. The VR Low Friction sealing lip reduces it by a further 50 to 70 per cent.

  • Wheel bearings
