Less friction. More output.

Radial shaft seals for high pressures and high circumferential speeds

Pressure-resistant to 150 bar, friction-optimised, from 1 mm shaft diameter — designed and manufactured in our own plant in Übach-Palenberg, Germany. From a batch size of one.

Your starting point

When the standard shaft seal reaches its limit

Too much friction. Too little installation space. Pressure a catalogue part can no longer take. A shaft you would rather not harden or hard chrome plate. That is exactly where our work begins — from the seal design through to series production.

  • Reduced pumping effect through tangential and radial preload
  • Reliable sealing on unhardened and stainless steel shafts
  • No running-in marks on the shaft
  • No post-treatment of the shaft material — no hardening, nitriding, hard chrome plating, no liner

Applies under appropriate operating conditions. For higher pressures, higher circumferential speeds or abrasive media we design the seal individually.

Energy & CO₂

One third of the friction power of a standard shaft seal

In a typical gearbox in a production environment a DIN seal draws around 60 W of friction power per shaft. A comparable VR seal draws 20 W. Check it with your own figures.

Energy 160 kWh per year
CO₂ 82 kg per year
Cost 32 € per year

Basis of calculation: 40 W of friction power saved per sealing point (60 W DIN against 20 W VR), CO₂ factor 0.512 kg per kWh. Figures from our own measurement on a typical gearbox — your actual saving depends on speed, lubrication and operating temperature. We are happy to work through your specific case.

VR Low Friction

The patented two-component sealing lip bonds elastomer and PTFE permanently: the elastomer provides the flexibility, the applied PTFE membrane reduces friction by a further 50 to 70 % — depending on the friction conditions. Add to that much improved dry-running behaviour, less heat generation, lower leakage and a higher permissible circumferential speed. Available in DOA, DOB, SOA, SAB and SAC up to a housing diameter of 110 mm.

Compressed air and vacuum through one channel

For more precise process control, compressed air and vacuum had to be fed into a rotating fixture — ideally through one shared channel. To make matters harder, the available torque was tightly limited by a magnetic coupling.

The VR radial shaft seal, design SAC, was the answer: two opposing sealing lips separate the two states, and the low friction power fitted the tight torque budget.
